You know guys I miss utu shimi. You like sitting around a ka fire roasting kandolo and you grandpa or ma or some other realative is telling utu shimi. I was reminded of that when I was making my closing for the race issue trial.
I think those tells tell us very important values about lifes situations and life in general. My parents never told me any but my granny and some aunties did. I want to be telling my children utu shimi if am lucky enough to have kids and time.

So can someeone post a Folk tale in whatever language they can preferably English. As we chill in Farmies cave...around a fire...jayjay doing the Kondolo and my wifey by my side as always.

    Kwali akantunse,

There were once three girls who were friends and all had babies on the same day. The first girl who we shall call Chola, had a beautiful baby boy, nice and healthy, a happy little boy. The other two who we shall call Mutale and Chisenga had malnourished dreadful looking babies.

Mutale and Chisenga were jealous of Chola's baby, so they decided to come up with a plan. They decided to trick, chola into killing her baby. Knowing that chola's husband's hunting had not gone well and they were pretty much starving, the came up with their plan.

A few weeks after they had all given birth, Chola found Mutale and Chisenga by the river and they didn't have their babies on their backs but they had new cloths and well looking very comfortable. So Chola asked them what had happened, how they had gotten so healthy and why the looked so good.

Mutale and chisenga told her that they were going to tell her the secret but she was not to tell anyone about it not even her husband. They told her that she should put her baby in a moulter and pound him to death and then she would become rich.

Chola being desperate listened to them, went home and pounded her baby, the beautiful little boy died. When Chisenga and Mutale saw this they both broke into laughter, they were laughing and pointing at Chola telling her that they had tricked her. Chola was so upset and angry she mourned for her little boy, but chisenga and Mutale only laughed more. She knew that her husband would be furious at her for killing their child so she ran away into the near by forest.

While in the forest she met an old woman that had really gross sores all over and was just nasty!! The old woman said 'my child will you clean my sores for me?'. Chola being the kind girl that she was, did as she was asked. She washed every one of the old woman's nasty sores until they were all clean and the repugnant stench had stopped.

After Chola had washed the old woman's sores, they all disappeared, Chola was puzzled. The old woman told her 'my child you have showed me kindness and because of this I will return the favour. Go home look in your hut and you will find you son'. Chola could not ask any further questions because the old woman disappeared.

Chola ran home as fast as her legs could carry her, she ran straight to her hut were she heard the soft morns of her infant son. She couldn't believe it!! He picked him up and for sure it was him!! Her little boy had come back to her.

The next day Chisenga and Mutale came to taunt Chola further but were supprsed to see her holding her little boy. They run up to her and asked her how her son could still be alive. Chola being the kind natured girl that she was told them about the old women but she didn't tell them about having to clean her nasty sores.

The two girls mutale and Chisenga promptly went home and pounded their babies and ran off to the forest and sure enough they found the old lady, but she was full of sores. the old woman asked them 'My children, will you please clean my sores for me?' Mutale and chisenga only held their noses because she smelled so bad, they then picked up stones and stoned the old woman and told her to go away because she stunk so much.

Before the old woman left she said 'because you have not showed me kindness, I will not show you kindness either and with those words, she vanished.

When Mutale and Chisenga got home they suddenly begin to have disgusting nasty sores that stuck just like the old woman. Everyone in the village was very angry at them for tricking Chola into killing her baby and told them that they should leave the village because they stunk so much. The duo were chased out of the village never to be seen or heard of again...

    Naka Shimi kapela...

The moral of the story is, be careful who you listen to because people are not happy when you succeed or have nice things, they want you to be as miserable and as poor as they are.

The second moral of the story is, evil never prevails, you might think you're being clever but sooner or later, you'll get what's coming to you....
